WHAT: The existential crisis of having a body. This class is designed to explore a multitude of concepts such as hanging, balancing, falling and transitions. The focus is on aerial as a physical concept and experiential practice. We will explore theories about technique, momentum, presence and form while asking questions and embracing room for risk and possibilities. We will examine fundamentals to gain efficiency, ease, fluidity, and awareness, making us better aerialists in a safe and supportive environment.
PREREQUISITES: Must be able to invert repeatedly in the air and make a clean hip key and know multiple ways to get into an s-wrap.
WHO: Lisa Natoli also known as Iron Fanny is an american aerial performance artist living in Minneapolis. She is a contemporary dancer and sought after aerialist known for her boundary pushing approach in teaching and performing. Lisa recently worked on a creation project with Steven Hoggett with Spiegelworld at St. Ann’s Warehouse (NYC). She has presented solo and ensemble work at The Toronto Contemporary Festival, The House of Yes, Galapagos Art Space , CBGB’s Gallery, The Brooklyn Lyceum, and MonkeyTown. Lisa is the lead instructor at ExperTease Fitness in Minneapolis and has taught on-going classes at Circus Warehouse (NYC), Aloft (Chicago), andFrequent Flyers (Boulder). www.lisasbrightideas.com.
