The Language of Vertical Aerial with Jessica Perry

  • Gravity Aerial Arts 5925 East Evans Ave, Unit 125 Denver, CO 80222 USA (map)

WHAT: There are 17 essential root positions for vertical apparatus- silks and rope, etc. All tricks, poses, positions, or dynamic movements can be linked back to these 17 positions. The workshop is suitable for newcomers to vertical apparatus as well as seasoned teachers and performers. We will be exploring a new perspective of vertical aerial vocabulary, tricks, and sequences. Bring your favorite go-to sequences, positions, and tricks and we will deconstruct them to their basic elements, and build them up again!

Jessica Perry is an international circus artist.

WHO: I spent a large part of my childhood living on a small sailing vessel with my parents, climbing the mast and swinging from the rigging. When I was ten, we went back to Colorado and I started circus because my parents didn’t know what else to do with me.

I started with flying trapeze and aerial acrobatics in Colorado and then performed with Le Petit Cirque in California while I finished school. At 17, I spent a year completing the full-time protrack program at the New England Center of Circus Arts in Vermont. Then, I was accepted to the National Centre for Circus Arts in London where I also performed with Stufish productions in SOHO and CIRCA in Depart. Since graduating, I have been touring the world with AIDA cruises and other solo projects.
